Assessment and targeted treatment for dizziness, vertigo, and balance concerns, to help you feel steadier and get back to your daily routine.
Your vestibular system — the balance organs in your inner ear and the brain pathways connected to them — helps you stay steady and keeps your vision clear when your head moves. When it is not working properly, you may feel spinning (vertigo), dizziness, unsteadiness or sensitivity to motion.
Vestibular therapy starts with a detailed assessment to work out what is likely causing your symptoms. One common cause, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), happens when tiny crystals in the inner ear move out of place and cause brief spinning with certain head movements. Clinical guidelines recommend treating it with a repositioning manoeuvre, such as the Epley manoeuvre, which guides the crystals back to where they belong.
For other causes — such as dizziness after a concussion or an inner-ear infection — treatment usually involves specific exercises that help the brain adapt, along with balance training to rebuild steadiness and confidence.
Repositioning manoeuvres
A guided sequence of head and body positions used to treat BPPV.
Gaze stabilization exercises
Exercises that train your eyes to stay focused while your head moves.
Habituation exercises
Gradual, repeated exposure to movements that trigger symptoms, so they become less intense over time.
Balance training
Progressive standing and walking exercises to improve steadiness and reduce the risk of falls.
Education and home program
An explanation of what is happening, what to expect, and exercises to continue at home.
Vestibular & Vertigo Therapy may support a range of concerns. Your practitioner will assess your needs and recommend an appropriate plan.
Detailed history
Your practitioner asks what your dizziness feels like, when it started, what triggers it, and how long it lasts.
Vestibular and balance assessment
Testing may include eye-movement checks, positional tests and balance tests.
Targeted treatment
Treatment matches the likely cause — for example, a repositioning manoeuvre for BPPV.
Home exercise program
You get a short set of exercises to do each day at home.
Progress review
Follow-up visits recheck your symptoms and progress the exercises.
Because our physiotherapists, RMTs, and a kinesiologist work under one roof, your vestibular care can be coordinated with other treatments when helpful — so your recovery feels more connected and complete.
