Assessment-led, one-on-one Pilates-based exercise that may help build core strength, improve posture and control, and support your recovery from injury or pain.
Clinical Pilates is exercise rehabilitation based on the Pilates method, adapted for people recovering from injury or managing pain. Exercises focus on breathing, posture, alignment, and control of the deep trunk and hip muscles, and are chosen and progressed for you rather than taught as a set class routine.
Sessions may use a mat, small equipment such as balls, bands and rings, or Pilates equipment, depending on your needs. Because exercises can be made very gentle or quite challenging, clinical Pilates is often used for back pain, after injury, during pregnancy and postpartum, and to build strength and confidence in movement.
Research suggests Pilates-based exercise is a safe option for people with long-term low back pain, with benefits similar to other well-designed exercise programs. Like any exercise approach, it works best when it is tailored to you and progressed over time.
